"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me." Revelation 3:20
Jesus is knocking at the door of every humans heart. Each person of precious value to a loving God. Each person with their idiosyncrasies, character and personality, sin and indiscretions has been invited to come to Jesus. Even those of you who already have a great relationship with the Lord, this is a personal invitation for more; a call from Jesus for a more intimate experience.
We sometimes think of God as being far off and too grand to want to commune with us in the cool of the day and the calm of the night. We don't always want Jesus to see us as we are today, with our day to day issues. We want to kind of get things straightened out and then call on Jesus when we think He will approve of our actions. We have it all wrong. Jesus is asking you to knock and let Him in so that you can sit together and talk and eat and live, together. Jesus hasn't ascended to some far off land that can only be approached after you die and go to heaven. Jesus awaits your invitation. Open the door of your heart and be real. Let Jesus come in and dine with you tonight.
Do you know that Jesus loves you just as you are? That's right, there's nothing you can do to make God love you more. Of course there are many things you can do to live a more pure and holy life, but God doesn't look at you through your human frailty. God even mentions in the scriptures that He remembers that you were made of dust. When God looks at you, He sees His son or His daughter and He loves you very much. It's not hard to have a special, personal relationship with Jesus like this, but it will take some unlearning.
